Therapeutic Riding Center

Horses For Healing is a program founded on the belief that horses are the best movement-based therapy in which a person can be involved.  Physically, because at the walk, the horse moves in the same manner as humans do, he passively moves the human as the human normally would move, disabled or not.  At an emotional level, it is a true challenge to communicate with an animal as large and sensitive as the horse.  Psychologically, the horse becomes a partner, a trusted friend, who is nonjudgmental and always forgiving of any mistakes.

Whatever your need, we believe you will find this a very rewarding experience, for yourself and/or your loved one as well.  Our sessions run ½ hour per week for six weeks with one week off between sessions.  The cost is $180 per six-week session.  We are vendored through Alta Regional Center.

We operate on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings in the indoor arena at Stage Stop Ranch, located on Mt. Vernon Road in Auburn.  While we primarily serve the adult community, we are also able to accommodate children from three years of age and older and serve a variety of needs.

If you feel you can benefit from this program, please fill out the application form (see below), present the appropriate evaluation forms to you doctor or therapist, and return them to:  Horses For Healing, P.O. Box 1136, Meadow Vista, CA  95722.  Written approval from Alta must be in our files prior to our instructor contacting you for scheduling.

If we may answer any questions, or arrange for a visitation to our program, please call 530/878-9573.
